Tax Time

Tax (Photo credit: 401K)

I just recently finished my taxes on one of those online tax prepare sites. I haven’t gotten my refund yet but expect in another 6 weeks or so depending on which email, website, or chart you believe. Not one of the dates are the same so I have decided I am going to think about other things.

If I had done better in math in high school I might consider a class so I could become a tax preparer. Sure it’s intense work for the first four months of the year but after than the stress level has to taper off a bit.

I actually was an ‘accountant’ for a while, I did payroll and tax prep for my bookstore until I realized the cost of hiring a company to run my numbers was a better way to run my business. I use quotes because I wasn’t a real accountant. I played one on TV maybe but there was no way I could have ever passed tax preparer certification. Say what you want about accountants…they are boring, focused only on numbers and are even cold…the truth us they provide a service most of us shouldn’t be doing ourselves.

Have you done your taxes yet?

Have you Tried Green Works?

Greenworks cleaning products, Green Works cleaning productsMany of you know that I’m old school when it comes to cleaning. I use harsh chemical abrasives that get the grime off but also ruin my hands and make my eyes water.
I use these products because I want to be sure my house is clean. With children and pets the house can get kinda messy and I want to be sure my home is clean so I use harsh cleaners. I’ve tried the more environmentally friendly products but they never seem to do the job without using three times as much product per job and also a lot of extra elbow grease.
I’d long ago given up on finding an eco friendly way to keep my home clean. Until this past week.
Last week I started using Green Works products. I was sent a box containing cleaning wipes, laundry detergent, bathroom cleaner and all purpose cleaner all made by Green Works. I have to say this box really changed the way I clean my house.
First off, all the products smell wonderful. That’s no small feat. I have a nose that rules the products I purchase and Green Works cleaning products smell fantastic. Especially the laundry detergent.
I love the Green Works laundry detergent. The daughter has allergies and incredibly sensitive skin. What that means for me is that perfumes and dyes have long been retired from the laundry. Gone has been my favorite fabric softener and it’s mountainy fresh scent that I loved so much. Now that I’ve discovered the Green Works laundry detergent I can have fresh smelling laundry again.
That’s huge.
What’s also huge is the cleaning wipes. I’ve never used wipes on anything but my kids behinds so using a wipe in the kitchen was a new thing for me.
How convenient are wipes?
They’re so convenient (and they smell great) I can keep the kitchen clean no matter who’s doing the cooking.
I also tried the bathroom cleaner and the all purpose cleaner. The bathroom cleaner worked well for cleaning the shower or tub on a daily basis but if it’s been a while since the tub or shower has been scrubbed you will need a little more power. The all purpose cleaner seemed a bit redundant to me once I discovered the wipes so I can’t see breaking out the all purpose spray bottle if I can just pull a wipe out of a tube. However, I bet the spray cleaner will be perfect for spring cleaning on the boat and patio furniture so I’ll hold off judgement until I have some bigger jobs.
All Green Works products:
  • Are made with plant- and mineral-based cleaning ingredients.
  • Come from biodegradable ingredients that are naturally derived
  • Are not tested on animals.
  • Use environmentally sustainable packaging whenever possible.
  • Are acknowledged by the EPA’s Design for the Environment program.
Green Works also has this really cool Facebook page where you can shop their products.
