A child bieng off for 7 days not only makes the parent worry about their child but also puts a stop on the parents ability to work which puts a further strain on the parent. Bad situation hightened by the worry of a yound child.

Main thing is that they are well in the end and recover 100%

If you look at the pandemic of 1977, when H1N1 or Swine Flu re-emerged after a 20 year absence, there is no shift in age-related mortality pattern. The 1977 “pandemic” is, of course, not considered a true pandemic by experts today, for reasons that are not entierely consistent. It certainly was an antigenic shift and not an antigenic drift. As far as I have been able to follow the current events, the most significant factor seems to have been that most people, who were severely affected, were people with other medical conditions.

One of my sisters got infected with H1N1 or more commonly known as Swine Flu. Fortunately, she did not have very high fever and she was able to recover fast .

Mrs. Blogalot,"He could be farting purple polka dotted pumpkins out of his ass s and they would prescribe another inhaler." I feel the same way. My daughter's doctor told me she could go back to school the next day (Thursday) the kid spiked another fever, she clearly wasn't out of the woods yet. The school policy of 7 days might cause a lot of trouble for parents but at least more kids (hopefully) wont get sick because someone went back to school too soon.

Jen, at least on Walton's Mountain and in Walnut Grove there were doctors that gave more than one ounce of a crap (and took food as payment). At least they tried to help Mary. There was no help for Nelly she was a whore.

These Yokel doctors (no offense Grey's Anatomy) are spit out of medical school a dime a dozen apparently after they have graduated from staring at their computers class instead of your child and try to figure out what is wrong.

My first grader's illnesses are always lumped into the asthma category. He could be farting purple polka dotted pumpkins out of his ass s and they would prescribe another inhaler.

Other than the regular meds, I find that a warm salt gargle usually helps out (if you can get her to do it) -old fashioned, I know but it still works (-:
Hope she is feeling better !

Stephanie, it does seem excessive but the kid I think my daughter caught this bug from had been home for five days, her fever was gone and there was no reason to think she might be contagious. All the nurses I have spoken with today say the same thing, the fever goes away and yet the kid is still able to pass it along. Better safe than sorry I guess. My daughter is in first grade, how much can she really miss? If my son gets this thing I will be singing a very different tune.

Rob, Now of course you have jinxed yourself. Good thing you have supplies all ready. All the schools around here have reported many many cases of suspected H1N1 but apparently strep is making the rounds too and the symptoms are so similar that kids are getting misdiagnosed. I hope this thing passes soon. Good luck to you too.
