I have a ceiling fan but only because I watched an episode of Mythbusters
where they dealt with this very scary phenomenon. The blades of the fan can
not cut your head off. They tried a million different ways, even putting a
Hemi motor on the fan and still it didn't do much damage to the test dummy.
As for it falling off, just make sure it's installed properly, like to a
stud. I'm sorry you have a/c but don't really, that's worse than not having
a/c, it's just a tease, and a mean one at that.

I'm torn between really wanting a ceiling fan for our bedroom and being terrified that the ceiling fan would somehow detach from the ceiling and the blades would slice off my head. We do have A/C, but when you are married to a stingy husband, it's really like not having A/C at all.

God - don't even get me started (yes I have a tone). Last week we reached 103, 104, 105 it was above 100 all week long - with probably about 100% humidity. We broke all sorts of records because usually it is only about 99. I HATE summer - I start dreading it in February.

It depends what part of the UK you are in. North is wettest. South is close to the continent, so is warmer and dryer. No screens here, but we made our own, purely to stop the gnats and spiders getting in. They make for indoors as evening approaches. Nothing like as bad as your homes though.

Seems to me San Diego is like that all year long. That was an anomaly, you can see my response to Surfie above explaining it.

That was last summer, it was unseasonably cool and wonderful. I don't think I had the air on but once all last summer. That isn't normal. July and August are usually gross with heat and humidity. We do usually get into the upper 60s for lows during the summer which is not that bad.

I recall you don't have screens on your windows either, something about not needing them because you don't have bugs or something. If it weren't for all the rain I'd be living over there.

I'm not a sauna person either. I can't think of anything I would least like to do than sit in a room and sweat with people on purpose.

I don't mind serial killers but I don't want to have nightmares either. Is Numbers on? That was a good show.
