Where Was This Taken?

I take a lot of photos while driving around town. Usually when stopped in traffic or walking. I have been known to take a picture or two while driving but I don’t recommend it.

I took this picture earlier this summer, I wasn’t really thinking blog at the time but I knew I had to have a picture of this. It’s been sitting on my desk top for a while now and I decided to make it into a contest.

I don’t have any prizes.

But, it’s pretty easy.

Where do you think I was when I took this picture?

(You will have to embiggen to get the full picture of what’s happening here)

Wait a minute, I do have a prize. The winner will receive a free month membership on Tribal Blogs, the coolest and funnest blog network out there.

  1. Pricilla says:

    erm, shopping?
Although I see no apples and it's not shopping if you don't buy apples for your goats.

  2. Holly1018 says:

    Walmart?

  3. Wherever it may have been, the car was apparently sitting on the birb bomb target drop.

  4. Linda R. says:

I'll go with Walmart on University Ave. in St. Paul just as a guess.

  5. Comedy Plus says:

Well there is a Borders in the picture, so more of a strip mall thingy. That car wouldn't last five minutes in California. The window would be knocked out and the stuff gone. High crime area is an understatement.

Okay, I'll guess Target. Got to be different you know.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  6. Ian says:

I don't know where but it looks like they parked too damn close to you

  7. Surfie says:

I see Borders, a fitness center, a Dollar Tree shopping bag and a shopping cart return. But other than guessing I have no idea. Walmart, Kmart, Target, grocery store???

  8. Joecap3 says:

Hummmm…sitting in your car? At the Dollar Tree-Borders parking lot?

  9. Nicky says:

You were in the parking lot of the Walmart at 1450 University Avenue West, St Paul, MN. I know you didn't ask, but here's the number – (651) 644-0020.‎ And you shopped at Dollars.

  10. MsDarkstar says:

I'd say Nicky's guess is pretty spot-on. I've not been to that part of town in a couple of years, so the LA Fitness (that used to be a dept. store, I believe) threw me off a little. I can see Central Medical in the background, I think.

  11. peedee says:

I know where you weren't RIGHT before this pic was taken…..definately NOT at the carwash.

  12. That is not my car! I only took the picture, and it doesn't do the car justice, because I have NEVER seen a car so full of garbage before.

  13. In all fairness I parked too close to them.

  14. You can't really see it but Target is beyond the Borders.

  15. We have a winner! Send me an email and I will get you signed up on Tribal Blogs.

  16. Sometimes they have a farmer's market in the next parking lot over, so if I had taken this picture in the fall there would have been apples.

  17. This just creeps me out. Google?

  18. You guys are killing me. Tell me MsDarkstar what was in the building next to the Borders. It is now a Herberger's but what was it before that? Oh, and I'll give you points if you can tell me what was in what is now the parking lot of Target, across the street. Two icons of St. Paul, now long gone.

  19. MsDarkstar says:

I *THINK* that what used to be in the Herbergers was a Carson Pirie Scott and the Target Space was formerly Montgomery Wards, was it not?

  20. You are so close. Montgomery Wards was in the Herberger's spot, but, I think
it was something else between incarnations. The Target parking lot used to
be…..now I can't even remember it. Oh, i'm going to have to look this up.
    Paper, it was paper. Shit.

  21. MsDarkstar says:

Ok… What is now Wal-Mart in the front and Cub Foods in the back of what was originally Montgomery Wards. In the mid 90's there had been Kmart and F & M Drugstore in that space.

What I'd thought was the Carson Pirie Scott was a Mervyns store in front with Herberger’s department store and Border’s book store in the rear. In the mid 50’s it was the O So Good bottling plant and in the early 50’s it was a Pepsi Cola bottling plant.

What is now Target used to be Brown & Bigelow. Until fairly recently there was a regular Target as a middle store with a Sheraton Four Points hotel in the rear.

  22. Anne says:

Since I am from the east coast, I have no idea. I would have to guess Home Depot parking lot?

  23. I know this one! You were in America!
